Many things come up as the years pass, and this year it was the reminder that this is for us, for my boys and not a project to impress anyone. A reminder for myself to be in the moment to witness it and enjoy it, be apart of it with them, to slow down and find the beauty in the mundane, not to plan or intend create a masterpiece, but view them and lead with the heart. We had our quietest Jan I can remember in terms of holidays and activities, we spent more time inside than normal and although there was many wonderful experiences not so many new and exciting ones. Looking for inspiration and moments to capture took patience and seeing, yet I still got to the 29th of Jan and realised I had some tradition/annual images I had to make sure would fit into the last few days.

And just like that another year of this personal project I love so much has passed. I do get so much joy from not only creating the images each year but sharing them with you all. A little peak into our lives and a beautiful keepsake for my children.

This year brings change for us as a family, yet we begin it with more clarity that we have many previous. We all look forward to welcoming a new baby, starting new activities and making new friends as well and growing old friendships and relsishing in time together.

May 2020 bring you heath and happiness, good conversations, warm drinks on cold days and cold drinks on warm ones, time to appreciate all you have and patience for all that is to come.

There are so many options for locations, we live in a beautiful country. There is no one answer for where you should have your shoot. It has to come from you, when you book a session you have ideas, a feeling, something you want to capture, often its a feeling and not a particular image but the location can add to enhance the strengthen this. Here is the starting point, sit on it, think about what you love to do as a family, a place you visit or a somewhere special. Somewhere you’ve seen or somewhere you’ve always wanted to go, but haven’t made it to yet.

I often get people saying they dont know or they don’t mind, but if you spend a few moments thinking about it, you do! and so you should. Your investing in images you will look back upon for many years, that future generations will see. Your photos will share where you’re at in this time of your life to you and to the future generations.

If your a family who love the beach, then this is your spot. If you bush walk, then let’s visit a park or reserve. If home is your safe space then this is where we should be. The place you feel you, relaxed, at home, comfortable. This is where we should be. It may take a moment of thought but you really do know where this place is for you. The finer details on exact location can be discussed but deciding the style of images you would like begins here. Get a cuppa, sit, dream up time in your happy place with your family, even taking that 10 minutes will make your soul feel good. Imagine an hour together actually living it!

This stunning family chose a spot just down the road from where, she grew up. The same place they had their wedding photo’s taken, a truly special place to be together. To celebrate where is started and how it’s grown.

Each newborn session is different, just like each newborn and each family. But we are all human, so there’s some things that will happen that will be similar for all of us.

I wish for you to know that I am patient, feeding a newborn breast or bottle takes time. It isn’t over in 5 minutes and that’s totally normal. So we will go with the flow, I will capture this time if you wish or happily give you privacy. I will often sit nearby and chat to about your story or share mine, whatever puts you at ease in this moment.
Sometimes bub needs some settling, the kind that requires awkward giggling and/or pacing up and down the hallway till they feel held and find calm, this is also completely normal and totally fine, I will happily do the awkward walk jiggle thingy for you, If you weren’t sure I kind of love babies.
If there are older sibling/s the settling in period can be a difficult one, each child takes on a new sibling in their own way. Again here, I find patience and letting them have a little control over themselves can help ease the whole lady with a camera in my face and baby that keep my mum’s hands full so she can’t play angst at bay. The more comfortable and relaxed you are the more the baby and children will feel at ease. This can be a great reason to have your session at home, where you have all the things you need and everyone feels at home, content in the space.
Honestly, my main aim for your session other than to capture this precious time for you is to create a space of calm and acceptance, to meet you where you are and help you ease into the motherhood journey. Embracing slow, change and the wild love that becoming a parent brings.

I will guide you through at a comfortable pace, to get a variety of images to remember this beautiful time buy. It takes as long as it takes, so soak up the moment, the day, your new baby and your loved ones. Let go of the idea of perfection and embrace this time for what it is. I’ll make sure to keep up my end of the deal and show you the magic in embracing the chaos.

If your interested in booking a session, get in touch. I’d love to create something beautiful with you.
